Club gear / four exact jockstraps / original buyer guide

Leather or leather-look?

Before you buy a jock for the night, check how this exact one gets cleaned—and whether you can return it. The maker instructions differ more than the materials shorthand suggests.

The short answer. Nasty Pig Intake and Gruff Pup Dominator combine leather-look panels with mesh and have machine-wash directions on their own listings. Nasty Pig Anvil uses genuine leather and calls for cold spot cleaning. Mr. S Leather Hardline is genuine leather too, but its exact-item wash instructions were not established in this review. None is a guaranteed safe return.

Source check: 1 November 2026. Maker statements, not independent wear tests. Availability, care labels and policies can change.

01Product-level evidence

What the makers actually say

Read across, not down a best-to-worst ranking. “Unknown” is an important result when a care label or refund rule is unresolved. Sizes are listed waist ranges, not assurances about pouch or leg-strap fit.

Material ≠ laundry setting. The Intake listing expressly permits a warm machine wash even though it describes faux-leather panels. Do not apply a universal “faux leather must only be wiped” rule or machine-wash genuine leather based on a different product's instructions.

02Choose by the constraint

Which uncertainty can you live with?

A buyer's practical fork is not “real versus fake” in the abstract. It is the actual aftercare, a size you can verify and the cost of getting it wrong.

You need machine laundry

Start with the exact washable models

Intake and Dominator both publish machine-wash instructions, but with different cycles. Confirm the garment label and wash a new piece as the specific manufacturer directs. This doesn't establish either one's comfort, longevity or fit.

You specifically want genuine leather

Accept different maintenance

Anvil's maker calls for cold spot cleaning and air drying. Hardline has a genuine-leather specification but no confirmed product-specific cleaning instruction in this source check. Ask the maker about that exact lining, elastic and hardware before assuming a method.

You need a safety net on fit

Stop until returns are clear

Nasty Pig explicitly excludes jockstraps from standard returns. Mr. S Leather's public documents conflict, and Dominator's return eligibility is not independently checked here. If a return is essential, get the applicable product-specific terms in writing before ordering.

03Take to checkout

Five checks before you pay

This works without a single retailer link. Save or print the questions and fill them from the current listing, policy and sewn-in label.

  1. Exact model and variant? Same category and brand do not mean the same garment construction.
  2. What is the maker's exact care method? Note wash temperature, dry cycle, and any spot-clean-only instruction; check physical label on receipt.
  3. What waist range is actually listed? Read the model's numeric chart, not just S/M/L. Strap and pouch fit remain unknown.
  4. Will this exact jock be accepted for a return or exchange? Check underwear, discounted goods, hygiene and damaged-item exceptions, plus jurisdiction and timeframe.
  5. What remains unverified? If washing, sizing or return terms are decisive and unclear, don't make the purchase on a guess.
